Motivation refers to the reason why we act and behave in a certain way.
Why do we always seek to have more motivation? Because it is the trigger that initiates the changes, the more motivated we are the more focus and determination to achieve our goals we will develop.
Desire is not the same as motivation. Everyone desire something (lose 30 pounds, gain muscle, have $ 1 M in the bank) but desire something is not going to make it happen,
A DESIRE MUST BE FOLLOWED BY ACTIONS TO GET RESULTS.
Those actions many times will be affected by different difficulties and problems, that's where the ability to persist and not give up comes in, that's what I call: TRUE MOTIVATION.
But in those moments of discouragement and frustration, where can we get that motivation from? There are 2 ways:
· External Motivation: these are more like a rewards, for example working tirelessly 3 months to get the money to buy a car, prep 12 weeks for a competition to get your prize. These motivators help a lot, but satisfaction is temporary. After obtaining the reward, what happens? What will keep you going? Well, here comes the second type of motivation:
· Internal Motivation: refer to the desire that will make you stay committed to your goal, to improve yourself and be better every day in order to achieve it. This is the one that will help you continue with a long-term approach, with a positive attitude that no one can take away from you.
No matter where you are in the process or what your source of motivation is driving you, what really matters is that you listen to yourself and allow you to discover what make you feel fulfilled and free.
Give value to your goals, prioritize them over everything and create a mindset in which nothing is more important than your achievement, that your source of motivation is you and not what others say. If you do not give the appropriate value to your goals, you will never achieve them.
“When your brain is focused on what you get from making changes, you’ll be highly motivated to change. Once your brain starts focusing on the work it takes to change, your motivation to change will disappear"
