Why Setting Goals (The Right Way) Changed Everything for Me

I have to tell you something, starting any fitness journey without a clear goal is like jumping in a car and driving with no idea where you’re going. Sure, you might end up somewhere eventually… but chances are you’ll get lost, waste time, or give up halfway.


That’s why goal setting is everything, not just in fitness, but in life. For me, learning how to set intentional, specific goals completely changed the game. It gave me direction, purpose, and most importantly, results.


So, what’s my secret? SMART goals.


I know you’ve probably heard the term before, but I’m telling you, once I actually started using the SMART method, everything got clearer and more doable.

Here’s how it breaks down:


  • S = Specific 

    (Know exactly what you want)


  • M = Measurable 

    (Track your progress)


  • A = Achievable 

    (Be realistic, but challenge yourself)


  • R = Relevant 

    (Make sure your goal actually matters to you)


  • T = Time-based 

    (Set a deadline or it’ll stay a “someday” dream)





How this changed my fitness journey.


In the past, I’d say things like “I want to get in shape” or “I want to look better.” But those goals were way too vague. Once I shifted to something like:


👉 “I want to drop 4% body fat in 6 weeks by following a consistent training + nutrition plan 7 days a week”

(that's why I did my 6 weeks challenge couple weeks ago)


BOOM! That’s a SMART goal. And guess what? I hit it, because I had a clear plan, timeline, and motivation.

Whether it was prepping for a competition, building more muscle, or helping my clients hit their own milestones, using SMART goals has been a huge part of the process.
